fearfully & wonderfully made.

you are so beautiful. did you know that? yep, you! our society has given beauty such a narrow meaning and i struggle with it often. fighting to reject the lies that we're constantly fed. and gosh it's hard to break free. really hard. and then i'm reminded of psalm 139 and it speaks truth. and i think i understand.

for you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother's womb.
i praise you because i am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
i know that full well.
my frame was not hidden from you
when i was made in the secret place.
when i was woven together in the depths of the earth.
your eyes saw my unformed body.
all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be.

it's incredible to think that the God of the universe took such great joy in creating each one of us. his intricate and perfect hand crafted us just the way he desired for us to be. he has set us apart. we are each unique and special, unlike any other person on earth. destined for meaning and purpose.

that's beauty.

i think about the story of creation. "God saw all that he had made and it was very good." i believe the same is true each time a child is born. God smiles and says you are beautiful because you are created perfectly in the image of a God who loves you more than you could ever imagine.
